Just incase anyone was wondering, Savannah never did sell. Nope, she's back at home hanging on my wall, right above me, right where she belongs.
I did make a sale though. I sold the Abe Lincoln painting that I made in 8th grade for his 200th birthday at the request of Mrs. Sweet. He didn't come out as anticipated, so I never uploaded him (on this site. He's on others). He had been just sitting in the art room ever since. For the school's art show last week, he was on display, and through relentless harrassment I was able to sell him to a man for $100. You can now see this painting here, in my scraps.
[link]The man still has yet to pick him up and I couldn't care less.
Moving on to better things..
My New(er) Art Despite my having had an insane amount of periods in the art room this school year, I haven't really been working on much, but I did upload the few things I've finished: My heart, a bass guitar, and Rocky. I gave my heart away to the same boy that got the guitar, leaving Rocky for me to discuss.
Rocky the bear is my latest acrylic painting and my entry to this year's Congressional Art Show. I started him 7 months ago but I finished him in the last two weeks before the submission was due. Although it taught me that I am actually capable of painting to a deadline, I never. ever. want to do that again. The physical toll was immense. We're talking roughly 115 hours in 16 days. I'd come home from school to work until 4, pass out, wake up at 6 for school and repeat. But he's done and gorgeous, so none of it was in vain. I'm very happy with the way he turned out and the wonderful reception he's received. Thanks, guys.
The art show is on Monday, May 9th. That's tomorrow. It is the same art show that my Leaves won last year. I don't know why I'm updating today when I'm going to have to reupdate it again so soon, but I guess it's because it's been a while. I have a lot to get out. This year my dear Shabuki is entered with me. Even though I don't agree with her entry, she's a much better visual artist than she gives herself credit for.
And on that note, I'd like to thank you all for yet another wonderful birthday. Don't know what I'd do without you guys.
Stay tuned for art show results..
Steph Taylor.
